The 2014 Big Butterfly Count results are out! A huge thank you to everyone that took part, we wouldnt have any of this amazing research without your counts! Here is a mini break down of what we have discovered: • The summer was good for Peacock butterflies - it was the most counted Butterfly of the Count! • It was also a good summer for Small Tortoiseshell, which finished in 4th place overall, its highest ever ranking in Big Butterfly Count and an amazing comeback for a butterfly that was so scarce in parts of southern England a couple of years ago. • Nearly 45,000 people took part, undertaking 43,564 Counts (equivalent to 175,000 hours of counting!) • There were fewer butterflies this year than last year.
