The 2014 LBSC Memorial Trophy (Curly Bowl) is to be hosted by - TopicsExpress

The 2014 LBSC Memorial Trophy (Curly Bowl) is to be hosted by Leyland SME on Saturday 06/09/14. The competition expresses the continuing recognition of someone who’s contribution to our hobby has become legendary. Apart from being a fine piece of silverware, the bowl symbolises the spirit of the event which is the real legacy, easy going, model engineer to model engineer, best locomotive on the day as judged by like-minded fellow enthusiasts. It is not a fierce contest, it serves solely to acknowledge the winner as representing the values that “Curly” thought important, practical design, workable models, innovative ideas. We are still looking for a few more entries for this years LBSC competition, so if you have any members thay may be intrested in entering a LBSC derived locomotive (as long as the loco has not won before) please contact Steve at [email protected] or approach Diane directly at diane.carney@mytimemedia The format is usually 6 or so entrants, the judges chat to the drivers to gain a little background then each judge takes a turn at the regulator and operates the model for a short spell. After that the track is yours for the day, no public passenger hauling, just family, friends and guests. Unfortunately Leyland SME only have a short length of track for 2½” locomotives, but enough for display purposes or a there and back run of 60 feet / 20 metres.
