The 2014 Reebok CrossFit Open has finally come to a close. The last workout (14.5) threw me out of the top ten 42-year-old women in the state of Tennessee, placing me at #11, but I did accomplish my initial goal to finish in the top 50th percentile of women my age in the southeast region (50th out of 103 athletes). On a side success, I also fared pretty well worldwide, finishing 637th out of 1546 athletes. A few other things happened on the road to the CrossFit games finale...I learned a lot about myself, my CrossFit Forte colleagues and about perseverance. I also learned how to (finally!) string double-unders! Since 14.1, I made a commitment to practice diligently and it has paid off. I also concluded that 14.4 was my strongest work-out (60 calorie row, 50 toes-to-bar, 40 wall balls, 30 cleans...well, I did 2), which shocked me...but I managed to score a 4th place finish in the state for that particular work-out. I also learned that my new nemesis is chest-to-bar pull-ups. I have a laundry list of movements to work on before the next Open (and yes, Jason Ryan, I am going to put you through this again in 2015...Ill try not to act like a crazy person next round). There is a certain kind of addiction with CrossFit...but more so with the CrossFit community. Thank you to everyone for your support and special kudos to my fellow athletes who have been a wild inspiration. Cheers!
