The 2014 Shelter Academy jointly organized by Arcadis and UN-Habitat kicks off in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Yesterday, we were asked to give a short presentation of our chosen case studies to be addressed within the Academy which will form the basis of our practical sessions so that participants will be able to learn from each others insights and experiences with Arcadis and UN-Habitat’s experts on hand to provide additional advice and support in the implementation of priority action plans. It is hoped that the Shelter Academy will create opportunities for mutual cooperation and partnership among cities and help build capacities of local governments and the communities in order to improve the living conditions of the people, especially for the urban poor.
