The 2014 football season kicked off Friday night. Thankfully, we were able to come out on top of our rival the Thomson Bulldogs 41-14. It was a resounding team effort. Our defense was once again very solid, setting our offense up with a short field the entire night. Justin Lawrence recorded an INT. AJ Gray had an 82 INT return for a TD. Also, Stacy Thompson had 15 tackles and a TD catch. Offensively, AJ Gray was 7 of 8 for 186 yds and a TD. Darius Tucker also had a long punt return, again set up by our defense, that started a scoring drive inside the 5 yard line. Logan Hunt had 3 catches for over 100 yds receiving on the night. This week we host Mary Persons, reigniting one of, if not the most storied rivalries in Middle Georgia of the mid to late 1990’s. They are 21-5 over the past two years and have made deep runs into the playoffs in AAAA, a classification higher than us. We hope to have a full house. They are a phenomenal team and we certainly need our crowd to serve as that “12th Man”. Thanks for all of your support. GO HAWKS!!!
