The 20th centurys greatest. Gabriel Garcia Marquez first tried his hand at writing a few short stories that were not well received then he began to travel throughout Colombia and interviewed many people and listened to THEIR stories...some true some pieced together from folk tales and that is when he became a GREAT writer...when he listened to other peoples stories and made them his own. (P.S. I have seen the only two films ever made of his work (Erendira and Love in the Time of Cholera) and have often wondered what a film of his masterpiece One Hundred Years of Solitude would be like but he forbid anyone from turning it into a film while he was alive. Javier Bardem as Colonel Aureliano Buendia? Penelope Cruz as Remedios the Beauty?
