The 28-year-old has been the subject of transfer speculation in recent weeks with the striker being linked with as many as four clubs; Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United. According to a senior Chippa United official, Chiefs have won the race for Zulu’s services with the player signing a long-term contract. “David has signed a four-year contract with Chiefs. He didn’t train with us on Monday as he was in Jo’burg finalising the deal and I can tell you that he has done exactly that so he is moving in January. The chairman [Chippa Mpengesi] was the one who asked David if he wants to leave and the player said yes. “That’s why the team signed Edward Manqele, because David is leaving,” he discloses. In an attempt for confirmation, this website put a call through to the player’s agent Abbie Rasimphi of Liberate Resources Sports Management who declined to comment on the player’s move, but didn’t deny it either. “I can’t comment on that now. I’m very busy helping Mpho Mvelase [Chippa’s defender] with funeral arrangements because his father, Thabo, passed away. My lawyers in Jo’burg are dealing with that and they will brief me. For now, I’m busy helping Mpho as I said so I can’t comment at this stage,” Rasimphi says. The player also refused to confirm the deal and referred us to his legal representative, Vincent Madela, who also declined to comment because he hasn’t briefed Rasimphi about the latest developments. “I can’t comment until I brief the president of the company,” he says. Chiefs’ Bobby Motaung couldn’t immediately be reached for comment. Zulu, who finished last season as the top scorer in the National First Division with 16 goals, has been impressive for Chippa scoring four League goals in 10 starts in all competitions this season.
