The 48 Hour Film Project Melbourne 2014 registration now open! As part of the world’s largest time-based film competition, the seventh Melbourne 48HFP is set to once again challenge and inspire the Victorian filmmaking community with early bird registration now open. All entries will be screened at ACMI and judged by a panel of industry professionals. We are happy to announce Emmy award winning set designer, Rolland Pike as the first of our judging panel. More judges to be announced over the coming weeks. This year’s event dates are: Creative Forum: 7pm, Thursday, 7 August, The Cube, ACMI Competition Weekend: 7pm, 5 - 7 September, The Cube, ACMI Opening Night: 7:30pm, Monday 22 September, ACMI General Screening: 7:30pm, every night from 23 - 26 September, ACMI Awards Night: 7:30pm, Friday, 3 October, ACMI This September hundreds of filmmakers will gather to draw their genre, and receive the prop, line of dialogue and character their films must include. Then begins a mad 48 hour rush to script, shoot, edit, score and render their film. Participants will be battling it out for a range of industry related category prizes, as well as the best overall film winning a flight to compete in the international 48 finals at Filmapalooza in Hollywood. Every year 48HFP Melbourne has brought the local filmmaking community together where innovation and artistry collide. 48HFP is committed to developing the artistic talents of the community through offering filmmakers networking opportunities and a chance for international exposure. Last year LateNite Films swept the awards with Flash. The film won five awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Edit, Best Sound as well as the Audience Choice award. Their prize included a flight to New Orleans to represent Melbourne in Filmapalooza. Following Ready to Roll’s The Anti-Social Network in 2012, the judges chose 48HFP Melbourne’s best film as one of the top ten for the second year running, winning a screening at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival.
