The 5-fold ministry consists of functions not merely titles. The word title is just an adjective that describes, but the word function is a verb that requires action. Thus, the Book of Act[ions] by the Apostles. Many church leaders nowadays want the title (recognition) of a pastor, but they dont want to walk in the servanthood (function) of a pastor. They want their name to be called, but they dont want to carry out all of their pastoral duties. And best believe, a pastors duties require more than just preaching a sermon over the pulpit every Sunday. A pastor has to lay his life down for his congregation, just like a shepherd lays down his life for his sheep. Philippians 2:5-7 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. Did you catch that? Jesus, who is our great example, and who walked in all 5 functions, didnt boast in having a title, or a reputation. His only agenda was to please the Father through his obedience and servanthood. Theres nothing wrong with being called apostle, prophet, pastor, teacher or evangelist. All Im asking is that you dont get puffed up, and that you let your works speak for you.
