The 60 Second Sermon Thursday November 14th 2013 The Busy Man and the Apple Cart (Another wonderful message brought to us by Mark C Snyder of Living Witness Ministries) Matthew 11:27 “My Father has given me all things. No one knows the Son, except the Father. And no one knows the Father, except the Son and those whom the Son chooses to tell.” Hebrews 13:1,2 “Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unaware.” There once was a man, a Salesman. He would bid his much loved family goodbye on a Sunday evening and would not be home till the following Friday. Such was the life of a sales rep. His Saturdays were spent with his family and that evening he would spend his time hastily cobbling together a Sunday school lesson. Sundays after church, it would start all over again. One Thursday, he found he had no appointments for the following day and was overjoyed at the thought of getting home early. His cab dropped him around the corner from the rail station. He had just enough time to make his train. Quickly paying the driver he dashed to make his train. Rounding the corner, he crashed into an applecart. He stumbled, but managed to keep his footing. Looking over his shoulder, he saw a young girl groping for the scattered fruit. The salesman managed one more step before turning to help the young girl. The salesman knew then and there he would miss his train, but there would be another. He helped gather the scattered bruised and broken fruit. Helping her up, he noticed that she was blind. He paid for all the damaged fruit and was turning to leave when the young girl asked, Are you Jesus? Flabbergasted, the man said, No, why do you ask?” The girl replied, Jesus is the only one I know who can and will take the bruised and broken parts of a life and pay for it all Himself; all while being bruised and broken. Do you Know Him? The man replied, Yes, but not nearly as well as I thought I did a little while ago. “Not nearly as well as you. That week, the man had no trouble with his Sunday school lesson. Do you know Jesus? Can you recognize Him? He is still in the life repair business. If you want to know more, please contact us today. Let’s Pray: Father, We so very often believe we are right; right with You, right in all areas of our lives. Forgive us for the sin of busyness. Often we are so busy in our day to day lives that we miss the point. We are Jesus to this World. We are the only Jesus many will ever see, before standing in judgment. By then it is too late. This world is not our home, too often we act like it is. We forget to take time to love. Love others as You do. Forgive us and open our eyes to the needs around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
