The 60s belonged to the British... and the biggest was obviously was the Beatles. Literally named after the Crickets of Buddy Holly, the 4/5 guys from Liverpool changed about everything we knew about music, and continued the fusion of jazz, blues, race music, and pop. Much can and has been written about the Beatles, and as a team, they exhibited many of the best and worst traits. The competition between Paul and John drove them both to new heights, and when together, it was an amazing partnership. That competition, unmanaged after Epsteins death, eventually created what we could now call a hostile work environment. Ironic that Let it Be was written and recorded in parts as they couldnt stand to be in the same room. Keeping the creative energy high while managing the inherent conflict is a tough leadership task.. particularly in a shared leadership model. I watched 2 biopics of other groups that have stayed together for more than 20 years (U2 and Pearl Jam) and both were able to work through this tension without blowing apart. What could have been done to keep the Beatles together - and imagine if that could have happened.... For now, we have an amazing catalog of music... and hard to pick just one. But this is one of my favorites from probably my favorite albums... Let It Be. What if we could. youtube/watch?v=ajCYQL8ouqw
