The 60x zoom range on the QX30 is brilliant, it works like a pair of binoculars! Another advantage of using the QX30 is the fact that you can either shoot with the body clipped on to your mobile device or by simply holding the QX independently to get those unconventional angles of your subjects, positioning it to your desired focal length & shooting either from the shutter button on the QX or on the screen of the PlayMemories app. It takes a bit of getting used to for the initial configuration but you get the hang of it once you experiment with the different zoom ranges. The only down side is there’s a tiny bit of time lapse when you change to shoot in different focal lengths and also battery life is short due to QX being a camera with zoom lens so backup is crucial here.
