The 61st annual meeting of Coleman County Telephone Cooperative, Inc. was held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Santa Anna Civic Center. The event was attended by approximately 400 people, 197 of those being registered members and eligible to vote in the election. Stanley Hartman, president of the Cooperative’s Board of Directors, called the meeting to order and led the crowd in the pledge of allegiance. The invocation was delivered by Roddy Dean. Mr. Hartman presented the welcome address and expressed his appreciation to those in attendance. Other items on the agenda included a financial report by accountant, Janice Fellers and a report by general manager, Tim Humpert. Special guests in attendance were Herman Roark representing TRC Engineering located in Kerrville, Texas, and Dodie North of GVNW Consulting, also located in Kerrville. Director Roddy Dean, representing the scholarship committee, presented three $1000 scholarships to the recipients of the Tom Kingsbery Memorial Scholarship. The recipients are Kaitlin Krause McFadin, daughter of Kim and Cecil Rutherford and Gary Krause, Tarleton State University, Reagan Barr Hadden, daughter of Dwin and Karen Nanny and Jody Barr, Abilene Christian University, and Carlee Coats, daughter of Charles and Vickie Coats, Tarleton State University. The selection committee was very impressed with the hard work and dedication exhibited by each of these young people as they pursue their education and career goals. CCTC would like to extend congratulations and best wishes to each of these well-deserving students. All recipients are graduates of local Coleman County schools and are in their 2nd or more year at a university pursuing higher education. Also recognized at the meeting was Kirsten Moore, a 2014 graduate of Panther Creek High School, who was selected as a recipient of The FRS Staurulakis Family Scholarship. The members of the Cooperative elected two directors, each to serve a three-year term. Those elected were, Stanley Hartman (incumbent), Santa Anna area and Roddy Dean (incumbent), representing Santa Anna Rural North area. The big winner of the night was Pat Vance, who won the $200.00 grand prize. Members received a first aid kit as the door prize and 75 gifts were on the list for the give-away drawing.
