~~The 80 Days of Cruel Summer~~ DAY 09. Madonna, True Blue. The Queen of Pop makes her last appearance with this sugary confectionery treat of a song which came out the first week of fall in 1986. It harkens back to girls do-wop of the late 50s and early 60s, with a video to match, while still being totally 80s. The song itself spoke of true love and what it means to be there for someone, even if that message is wrapped up in some bubble-gum pop. The album of the same name remains one of the greatest of all time with other hits like Live to Tell (Released: March 26, 1986), Papa Dont Preach (Released: June 11, 1986), Open Your Heart (Released: November 12, 1986) and La Isla Bonita (Released: February 25, 1987). Plus, Madonna wrote or co-wrote every song on the album making this a more involved effort on her part but it was just a taste of what was to come in later years/decades.
