The 9th ANNUAL KATRINA ARTISTICALLY REVISITED special commemorative event at the Theatres at Canal Place, New Orleans, Louisiana, on August 28, 2014, 9 pm - midnight, is produced by Patty Lee and Armand St. Martin every anniversary eve of Katrina. This grassroots program highlights the artists response to the Katrina experience and expresses the resilience of not only artists but of everybody who survived Katrina and its aftermath. We start our program on the anniversary eve of Katrina to symbolize how our lives were normal on August 28, 2005 and then how our lives were changed forever on August 29, 2005, says Patty Lee. Our offerings are designed to remember those we lost and to honor those who survived. A respectful and reverent approach to the Katrina disaster is always the theme of Katrina Artistically Revisited. Every August 28th, this commemorative special event includes everything Katrina, such as original songs performed by the songwriters and musicians, photography, short films and film trailers for full-length films, award-winning documentary shorts, first responder stories, published books, book-signings, poetry, DVD shorts, Q&As, speakers, and more. The 2014 programs emcee is 10th generation New Orleanian Armand St. Martin. The night begins with a Welcome by Doug Whitford, V.P. Film, the Theatres at Canal Place, followed by Steve Allen performing Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans on sax, to set the mood. Ron Thibodeaux, former Bureau Chief for 30 years with the Northshore Times Picayune, presents his new book with a book-signing in the Lobby, for Hell or High Water: How Cajun Fortitude Withstood Hurricanes Rita and Ike. Thibodeaux is also the guest speaker for the 9th Annual Katrina Artistically Revisited in the Theatre and will talk about how Hurricanes Katrina and Rita intersected. The book is a masterpiece. Armand St. Martin will perform his original songs off his CD, Katrina Anthem on Patty Lee Records, titled Orleans Lullaby and Creole Good-by. He will also perform his parody, Waitin for My Trailer. Steve Allen will perform his song Katrina. Allen and his wife Debbie lost their home in New Orleans, and St. Martin and his wife Patty Lees uptown New Orleans home was flooded and they lost their roof causing damage throughout while caregiving for Lees bedridden Mother. Faust will be present to speak and have Q&A. Photographer Dennis Couvillions Stillness. . . the aftermath of Katrina, has been a cornerstone of Katrina Artistically Revisited since its inception in 2006. This bxw DVD short film by Couvillion, whose home was destroyed in Lakeview near the 17th Street Canal, is riveting and beautiful while tastefully dealing with such a tragic historic time as Katrina. The soundtrack music by Dean Dupuy was recorded and produced by Armand St. Martin, with a musical opening by Ramsey McClean. American celebrity designer, Chris Madden, with her business-partner son, Patrick Madden, created their Project Katrina DVD short with the soundtrack by Armand St. Martin utilizing his original songs, Orleans Lullaby, and St. Expedite, on Patty Lee Records. Project Katrina is a wonderful film short about recovery after Katrina as the Maddens furnish a home that was ruined by Katrina in Mississippi. Robert Green, Sr. will speak about his Lower Ninth Ward experiences. He lost his home in the Lower Ninth Ward as he and his family rode on the roof of their home as it was washed down their street. Tragically, Mr. Green lost his granddaughter and his Mother from that rooftop that day. He resides in one of the first Brad Pitt houses in the Lower Ninth Ward. A presentation penned by Greg Lambousy, Director of Collections, Louisiana State Museum, called Saving Louisianas Treasures, will be read by Armand St. Martin. This tells the story of how the employees of the museum worked to protect the artifacts before, during and after Katrina, including the fact that the museum lost a large portion of its roof during Katrina. Award-winning filmmaker Steven Scaffidi with Rockey Vaccarella will have their film trailer shown that represents their motion picture, Forgotten on the Bayou. This documentary trailer represents the film which is the winner of six film festival awards. It follows Rockey first from being saved off his rooftop in Katrina down in the bayou, to hauling his FEMA trailer all the way to Washington, D.C. to meet with the President. So endearing, one cant help but cheer for Rockey throughout. The sponsors for the 2014 Katrina Artistically Revisited are George Solomon (owner of the Theatres at Canal Place), Doug Whitford, John E.
