The ABC will still receive from taxpayers $5.525 billion over 5 years after government budget cuts of $250 million. If they cant manage with that, then there is something wrong. Have a good look at those that are protesting against the cuts to this government department. They are 99% Green and Labor voters. This fact alone proves the ABC is biased. Over 50% of ABC staff live in the late belt and they produce programs that reflect the views of these sippers. Did the ABC ever mention the AWU slush fund scandal of Julia Gillard? Has it broadcast the damaging evidence in the Royal Commission on Union Corruption held just recently? Has it run special programming on Craig Thompson and Michael Williamson guilt? Yet the minute Kathy Jacksons name is mentioned from leaks generated by the union, they dedicate hours of programming. If they had listened to evidence given at TURC, they would be made aware from intercepted phone conversations of Williamson, that he admits to a media strategy of leaking against Jackson with lies the ABC is only too willing to broadcast and promote. Ask yourselves, if this corruption was on the government side of politics, whether they would be so silent? What about their eagerness to believe our navy had burnt illegal entrants hands just because it supported the ABC stance on asylum seekers. It even refused to broadcast the 2 part John Howard interview even after running specials on Paul Keating and Bob Hawke. You bet theyre biased. Channel 7 picked up the Howard interview which saddly for the ABC gave him a larger audience but that is besides the point. Why did it refuse to broadcast a Liberal party ex Prime Minister? Yes no doubt in my mind the ABC is biased and over funded And on another point, why should the ABC be exempt from budget cuts that have been impossed on every other government department? Theyre not a sheltered workshop like you know the ones they have for the intellectually impaired. Well some of you might say this point is debatable. Nevertheless, media has been laying off staff for a while. Just ask all those sacked at Fairfax. Maybe ABC staff see themselves as superior?
