The [ACA] makes healthy people pay more for insurance in order - TopicsExpress

The [ACA] makes healthy people pay more for insurance in order to subsidize sicker people. It makes younger people pay more to subsidize older people. It makes men pay more to subsidize women. It makes everyone pay more to cover benefits, taxes, and fees that consumers might not ordinarily want. -Forbes How true is this I wondered.... The Kaiser Family Foundation (Non-profit run by the nations 3rd largest health insurer) calculator has said my yearly premium (Bronze plan, minimum required coverage) under the ACA is $2376 in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Ouch! Lets take it a step further... I decided I needed to see how this compares to buying individual coverage through 2 of the largest health insurers in the country. To make the results as favorable to the ACA Bronze plan, I made sure to choose the highest level of health coverage provided to my age/demographic. Aetnas yearly premium...$1908 United Healthcares yearly premium....$1980 So under the Affordable Care Act, I would pay more for the basic plan than the most expensive plans offered. We might need to re-define affordable. What am I missing?
