The AGO is celebrating WorldPride 2014 with an exhibition that explores queer identity and the play of gender. The artists exhibited within, Fan the Flames: Queer Positions in Photography, question gender norms, exploring diverse representations, while challenging public perceptions regarding the way we consider everyday gestures, objects, tastes and styles. This exhibit will be constructed from the AGOs permanent collection, as well as from private and institutional collections. Key artists involved in the exhibit include both Canadian and international figures, such as Claude Cahun, Colin Campbell, Shawna Dempsey, General Idea, Nina Levitt and Mark Morrisroe. Fan the Flames opens June 18th! For more information, visit ago.net.
