The AJP are being sent many requests from various people asking us what we think about the information that is coming out against the Lost Dogs Home. We, like most of you, have been aware for a long time that there are questionable activities occurring there. The LDH have long been requested to work closer with rescue groups, and to make efforts to stop the inhumane and unnecessary killing of healthy, or merely lost animals. We understand that situations in organisation never look the same from the outside than they do from the inside, and sometimes it is important not to jump to judgmental conclusions about things... we dont always know better. However, with so many complaints and information leaks, we cannot turn a blind eye to this. We hope that the message they receive is loud and clear that its time to revisit their methodology and their practices. Our intentions are not to bash organisations, but to encourage change. As per of our Companion Animal policy we would like to seen an overhaul of all shelters and pounds. There is great need for Welfare reform across many sectors and over time (and with the time/resources available to us) the AJP will be reviewing those. To sign the petition to ask the Premier Dan Andrews to launch an inquiry, would be a valuable step toward reform taking place. To all the animals that have been killed and/or not returned to their families for whatever reason... sincerely Rest In Peace.
