The ANSIV WEEK Official Update IV #Day2 ANSIV International Football Championship Finals #AIFCFinals The AIFC Quarterfinals started in earnest after the Nigerians had won the AIWVC (See official Update III). The Union of Arabian Nations thrashed Nigeria Team A to go through. Vietnam gave a Barcelona-sque performance killing Congo with 4 goals to their name. Nigeria Team B put Ghana to the sword while Guinea Bissau (defending champions) sent CIV packing. Nigeria cruised past Vietnam in the semis while a tense game between Guinea Bissau and Union of Arabian Nations ended with the defeat of Guinea Bissau. In the third place match, Vietnam pulled another one from the top drawer. They schooled Guinea Bissau and took the third place. Shortly after the kick off of the Final, it started drizzling. Nigeria Vs Union of Arabian nations. The match lived up to its bidding. It was a box to box game. No one came to defend. No team felt they could lose. The rain intensified but it didnt matter. The spectators were not deterred. It was a match to remember. Just before half-time, Nigeria came into the final third with a beautiful interplay, dislodging the hitherto impenetrable Arabian defence. It was too late to recover: the Nigerians had put one past the Arabian keeper. 1-0 the scoreline. The second half resumed as though there was no break. Hostilities continued from where they stopped in the first half. It was attacks and counters. It rained and rained but no one cared. The players gave it all they could. The pitch became slippery but the game continued. The Arabs came close to scoring and so did the Nigerians. With a few minutes left to play, the Nigerians started employing different tactics to stifle the opposition, frustrate them and run down the time. The game intensified as it approached the final seconds but the Nigerians had done enough. One goal was enough. Final whistle: Nigeria 1 Union of Arabian Nations 0 AIFC Winners- NIGERIA! It was a good day for the Nigerian contingents. #SeminarNEXT #ANSIVWEEKContinues
