The ARLIS Professional Development Committee is pleased to offer a visit to City & Guilds of London Art School. The visit will take place on Thursday 26th June from 3pm - 5pm, and is free of charge. City & Guilds of London Art School is an independent institution in south London, prioritising skill-based teaching in the traditional and contemporary concerns of Conservation, Historic Carving, and Fine Art Painting and Sculpture at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Located in a complete terrace of six eighteenth-century houses in Kennington Park Road, the School - formerly Lambeth School of Art - has an interesting history and a unique atmosphere, with small classes and a high staff to student ratio. The visit will begin with a tour of the newly refurbished and expanded Sackler Library, and a chance to view some of the special collections. Refreshments will be provided. There will also be time to explore the school grounds and view the Painting, Sculpture, Conservation and Historic Carving degree shows in the studios and workshops - open until 7:30pm. If members are interested we will also be organising drinks in nearby Cleaver Square pub afterwards. City & Guilds Art School is a short walk from Kennington tube station (Northern Line).
