The Abbott Govt wants to move us towards US style healthcare where private providers decide what treatment theyll pay for instead of our universal coverage aka Medicare - which is the envy of Americans. What does this mean? If you have a mental illness or a disability this will mean those private insurers will knock back treatment you need as their beancounters wont deem you to be a good investment. Moving towards a US style healthcare system will discourage treatment due to the overwhelming out of pocket costs. If you are poor forget getting healthcare. Already a number of private providers have been buying up hospitals and other healthcare clinics as a one stop shop - all this does is create a user pays system. If you are rich you can jump the queue. If you are poor, you will get denied treatment. For a taste of the US healthcare system check out the documentary Sicko HACSU members, make no mistake the coalition IS NO friend of the Australian people - they are answerable to the rich, vested interests for corporations, in this case, the rich healthcare providers. Ramsay Health have been a huge contributor to the Liberal Party. We have a choice in November to send a message to Canberra that we dont support cruel policies which penalise the poor, people with a mental illness or disability.
