The Adani Carmichael mine will be so big, emissions from burning its coal will be equivalent to about a quarter of Australia’s total emissions, every year. The impact on the climate will be so significant that it further endangers protected areas, like the Great Barrier Reef. EDO NSW is taking this to court, arguing that the minister should have taken the emissions from burning the coal into account before approving the mine. BZE research shows that this mine will be an economic, as well as an environmental nightmare for Australia. We wish them all the best.
