The Adolescent Program is currently participating in the RealCare - TopicsExpress

The Adolescent Program is currently participating in the RealCare Parenting Program. This is a parenting education program that increases awareness about issues related to parenting an infant. Now through late May, our 8th year students will be taking turns caring for an infant simulator. Each student will be responsible for the simulator baby for approximately 4 days and 3 nights. The baby will cry according to a randomized 24-hour schedule and requires the student to provide appropriate care. The student must determine the kind of care the baby needs: feeding, rocking, burping, or a diaper change. The baby will cry if he is roughly handled, held in a position he does not like, or if his head is not properly supported. Please help our students by reacting to the baby as you would to a real live infant and by referring to the baby as “he” (as opposed to “it”) or calling him by the name given to him by his parent. If you notice a student taking particularly good care of the baby or witness the baby being mistreated, left unattended, or improperly cared for please contact Michele Widd at [email protected].
