The Advent Adventure Family Devo Day 10 - December 10 His Name is Jesus Luke 2:21 - “When the child was eight days old, he was circumcised. At the same time he was named Jesus. This was the name the angel had given him before his mother became pregnant.” NOTE: If asked about word circumcision, and not sure what to say - simply explain it was the tradition of Jewish families to take their 8 day old sons to a priest and dedicated them to God. Joseph & Mary took Jesus to the temple to dedicate him as their first born son. An offering was made, and he was officially given the name Jesus. The scripture above said the angel gave him that name even before Mary was pregnant. “Jesus” means Savior - someone that would save people from their sins. So much happened over the years in Jesus’ life, but as a baby, mom and dad could not begin to understand what their blessed son would do.
