The Aiken Department of Public Safety will be hosting its second 9 week Public Safety Citizen Academy. The Academy will run on Thursdays, starting September 12th, 2013. The Public Safety Citizen Academy covers many topics of law enforcement, such as: BASIC PATROL FUNCTIONS FIREFIGHTING USE OF FORCE (LETHAL, LESS THAN LETHAL) COMMUNITY POLICING TRAFFIC SAFETY CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS and more The Academy is intended to be an overview of the Aiken Department of Public Safety’s functions and operations. Participants will not be trained as police officers or firefighters. The Academy is designed to open the doors of the Public Safety Department to its citizens so that they can have an understanding of public safety operations.
