The Al-Kemist examines the controversial subject of Dark Latin American nationals that do not refer to themselves as black. It is a perfectly logical explanation for the country of the dominican republic. In many cases it is not that they lack the knowledge of their color but moreso that the term "black" directly links them to "African Americans" which in truth are two entirely different cultures of people both having African roots. Not every Dominican will have African roots but a bulk of the population does especially those that are heavily melanated.
