The Al Qaeda leader who took over after Osama died in 2011 just announced that he wants the Iraqi branch fighting against Assad in Syria to stop jihad fighting against other Muslims. He no longer wants to topple Assad at the moment because he says it will eliminate more than half of the Iranian power alliance that seeks to establish a Shiite state from Afghanistan to south Lebanon. He calls what is happening in Syria a political disaster He wants his rebel fighters to go home to Iraq and regroup. The US senate is preparing to reconsider Iraq and Afghanistan war authorizations this month where US troops still remain. Senator. Vietnam claims that China just intentionally rammed its ships as fighting still continues over new found oil in The South China sea. The attack happened right after U.S. President Barack Obama visited Asia to underline his commitment to allies there, including Japan and the Philippines, both locked in territorial disputes with China. Obama did not visit China because he had made threats against them. China claims almost the entire South China Sea, rejecting rival claims from Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia and Brunei. The Philippines and the United States are both teaming up against China over the oil. They had signed an agreement that allows a greater US military presence on Filipino bases. US troops currently in the Philippines are learning how to survive in the jungle. This week they were trained by the Philippine Army Special Forces how to consume plants and animals for survival such as snakes. More US troops are expected to deploy to the Philippines to aid the US and the Philippines in the oil rich land dispute. This week Obama warned that climate change is a threat to national security and blamed part of that on his current enemy China. He says they are the worlds largest emitter. Obama just blocked privately owned Chinese firms from constructing wind turbines in Oregon here in the USA. He claimed that it was for security reasons and because they had planned to build the turbines on restricted area at Navy military site. Obamas brother in law just got fired in that state from his job at Oregon state university. He had been working there since his sister Michelle obama became the first lady.
