The All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen has surprised many as it leads on four seats in Maharashtra, including one in Mumbai. In its debut election in Maharashtra, the Hyderabad-based party is leading in Aurangabad central, Aurangabad East, Byculla, and Nanded South. The party is fighting on 24 seats in the State, including 16 in Mumbai. It is expected to heavily impact the Muslim vote share of the Congress and the NCP as it is contesting from Muslim majority areas.
