The American Cancer Society recognizes the following yearly during the month of September.... Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (gold) Leukemia and Lymphoma Awareness Month (violet) National Ovarian Cancer Month (teal) National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month (light blue) Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month (teal/pink/blue combo) Sickle Cell Disease, another blood disorder, is also recognized this month and symbolized by the burgundy, deep red color. How many of us know someone whose life has been affected by these illnesses? I personally know someone from all six. My prayer today is a prayer of wellness and healing for those who are suffering from traumatic illnesses. I pray for the families and loved ones, I pray for their medical teams, and I pray for the patients themselves. I pray that we as the ones on the outside can be a support and not a hinderance to their well being. I ask the Lord for wisdom, guidance, and understanding in all our ways. I pray that compassion for my fellow man is placed upon my heart and the heart of others as well. I speak restoration and healing over the minds, bodies, hearts, and souls of those in need. May you be blessed today and also be a blessing to someone today. Take an old friend out to lunch. Take a new friend out to lunch. Visit your neighbor. Fix your loved one their favorite meal.
