The American Legion baseball game between the Boise Capitals and Boise Seminoles next Tuesday night, July 1, has been designated this year’s “Karl Seyb Memorial Game.” (pronounced Sibe) The contest will take place on Jack Acree Field at Fort Boise Park. Game time will be 6:00 PM. Donations to the Karl Seyb Sports Scholarship Fund will be accepted and appreciated. The fund has already given scholarships to deserving players and will continue to do so. Karl Seyb died April 9, 2011, at the age of 16 in a one-car traffic accident. The young man played baseball for the Boise High School Braves and ice hockey in the Boise youth hockey program and demonstrated great skills at each sport. The Boise Seminoles are the Legion team based in the Boise High School program. Karl Seyb is remembered as an excellent student as well as athlete, as a great teammate and friend to many through the years, and as a young man with a tremendous future cut short by the accident. The Karl Seyb Memorial Scholarship Fund honors his memory through the scholarships to baseball and ice hockey players. For more information about Karl Seyb and the fund, people can access the website karlsdream.org. Donations can also be made on-line and through the Idaho Community Foundation, 210 W.
