The American Samoa Visitors Bureau with the support of the Small Business Administration STEP grant hosted its first ever travel show on September 29, 2014 at the Rendezvous Grand Hotel in Auckland, New Zealand. This travel show featured 7 local industry businesses, who presented their accommodation properties and tour operations to 50+ retail travel agents from the greater Auckland area. It was a new and unique experience for most of our industry members to promote their businesses and our destination directly to travel trade partners. The travel show was undoubtedly a huge success and we look forward to more opportunities to showcase our tourism businesses to offshore travel markets. The 7 participating businesses were: • Pago Pago Tradewinds Tours • Alofa’s Tours • North Shore Tours • Sadie’s Hotels • Turtle and Shark Lodge • Tisa’s Barefoot Bar and Beach Fales • Tradewinds Hotel These promotional opportunities have been made available to our industry by the unstinting support of the Department of Interior (2011 Export Ready Workshop plus 3000 brochures and three commissionable contracts for each participating business) and the Small Business Administration (2013 Export Ready Workshop, 2014 Travel Shows, plus 3000 brochures, three commissionable contracts, and two 6’ stand up banners for each participating business). Our office respectfully thanks our grantors for making these promotional opportunities possible for our industry members. **Each participating business had to complete this Export Ready Workshop to be eligible for all promotional collateral, commissionable contracts and participation in offshore travel shows. Our office has applied for more grant funding to host these events next year, and if approved, we will send out another invitation for more industry members to participate.
