The Amsterdam Staff Band is well under way with its preparation for the forth coming occasions. This Saturday we will record another CD with hymn tune accompaniments, both from the regular tune book, as well as from our Dutch SA tune book (‘NB’) for use in the smaller corps where they don’t have a band. Next to that we will record some accompaniments for a new Salvation Army musical which will be held later on during the Christmas season. In about two weeks time (8 November) we will welcome cornet virtuoso Robert Venables, from Canada, as our guest soloist for our annual territorial music congress (legerdesheils.nl/Event/view/36). He is principal cornet with the North York Temple Band (nytband) of the Salvation Army and is also a professional trumpet player with extraordinary references. The band is looking forward to accompany him in some superb cornet solos which no doubt will please the audience beyond their imagination! We also will accompany our vocal guest Shirma Rouse (shirmarouse.tumblr/). She is a rising star in the Dutch Gospel and Soul scene among other styles. She also was one of the guests during the 2014 Salvation Army School of Performing Arts (music camp) in the Netherlands. All in all this will be a fantastic event! We will share the stage with our vocal counterpoint, the Amsterdam Staff Songsters (amsterdam-staffsongsters.nl/site/) ! During this day our new LIVE recording of the annual Premier Brass concert will be released (more information about this in the FB messages below)! In November we will be both in Apeldoorn (centre of the Netherlands) and in Eindhoven (south of the Netherlands) for our regular activities. Later more about these weekends!
