The Angel Falls discovered in the late 1920s by Jimmy Angel who was flying solo over the Guiana Highlands. He later returned to the Asphentuai peak where the falls originated and tried to land on it. The plane crashlanded, then he, his wife and brother had to descend the 975m height. He was completely exhausted by then. He also wanted to go right underneath the falls where the water was only a mist because of the great height from where it fell.
