The Annie E. Casey Foundation released its 2014 KIDS COUNT Data Book today--with Massachusetts ranking #1 in overall child well-being. This is good news--but we can do better. 1 in 7 kids in Mass live in poverty, and the states 15% child poverty rate doesnt tell the full-story. There are areas and neighborhoods in the state where the child poverty rate is over 40%, with children of color disproportionately living in areas of concentrated poverty. We need to invest in programs that lift children, families, and communities out of poverty to ensure that ALL children in the Commonwealth have an opportunity to thrive and succeed. #MAKidsCount #DataBook #OurChildrenOurFuture
