The Annual Matagorda Mermaid tournament was this last weekend! And as everyone knows the Hook N Bull and Capt. Rons Hookers were in town and up for the challenge! We knew we would be fishing a full moon condition that can make things either feast or famine! From the start of the Captains meeting on Thursday evening and right through tournament the spirits were High! Everyone was psyched up and ready! We headed out on Saturday morning to locate a large King Mackerel and catch some live bait at the close in rigs! We found the fishing slow to start with but as the day went on it built momentum and the Hookers finished with a Bang! A 21 lb. dolphin had them squealing like a bunch of little girls! Everyone kept the faith and worked the posteriors off to get the job done but the key was everyone had a great time! During that time we had three ling on and only landed one, one was wrapped all around both motors! We hooked another monster and lost it! But the spirits stayed HIgh We came in a little early to weigh in, knowing we had the three necessary fish, and I felt good that we had a chance. I had counted our points in my head and felt good that we were seriously in the hunt! As it turns out the Hookers hard work had paid off again! They won the BIg Dolphin for the tournament and then won third place! Once again we were back to squealing like little girls, Two more times!!!!!! I want to thank our camera man( James), deckhand (Jeremy Frasier) and the Hookers for hanging tough and a making a great day on the Gulf of Mexico!! Congrats girls!!!!!!!!!!Thanks, Capt. Ron
