The Ark of the Covenant contained the two tablets of stones on which the word of God, the ten commandments were written! The Ark symbolized the assuring presence of God among the Israelites; it was kept in the temple, taken to battles, helped them to cross the jordan river on dry ground! 2 Sam tells us how uzzah attempted to safe the Ark from falling from a cart that was conveying it, he was killed by God because he was not a priest to have touched it and because he did not believe God is able to save the Ark, his presence symbolized from falling! Such was the awesome holiness of the Ark! Today we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary body and soul into heaven! How awesome are you Mary, the New Ark of the Covenant, which had within you, not only the word of God written on stones, but the Living Word of God, Jesus Christ! Indeed as the angel said, you are full of grace and as Elizabeth also echoed, Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb! Indeed from now henceforth, All generations will call you blessed. You cannot be a true Christian, a follower of Jesus, without honouring his mother, whom God first honoured when he chose and prepared her to be the worthy mother of his son! Enoch was taken alive to heaven, so was Elijah, so what is strange about the assumption of Mary? It is something possible with God, it is something she deserves! So join in honouring Mary!
