The Ashya King update with echoes back to the case of Neon Roberts, most of you will now be aware that his parents have been arrested in Malaga!! To me personally watching the video it seems apparent that there are some conflicting opinions received in the advice by the family between oncologists and all the other professionals that get thrown at you in rapid succession? It has angered me how this family have been portrayed as criminals from the outset and now they are separated from Ashya?? That is insane...I think it goes to show what happens when we love our kids more than anything but people are truly backed into a corner. As I understand it the Milan protocol is now scrapped precisely because of the harsh brain damaging side effects, this father just seems to want the right and best thing but has been failed in the care and guidance that should have been provided. It is the most harrowing thing, I know when Abbie was being treated for DIPG as long as she was with us and could get home that is where she felt the safest and happiest...and if your child is dying their happiness is the most important thing...my last job if i was going to lose her was to do that for her, but our situation was more straight forward. I just dont know why we cant take a more common sense approach whilst appreciating there must be a protection framework of sorts each and every case is just so unique and individual..the same goes for childhood cancer treatment...the one size fits all approach just does not work!
