The Assumption College community is invited to attend a garden dedication in memory of late alumna Erin Rodriques ’12 on Sunday, Sept. 14, where the Switzer Building and Fuller Hall meet. The dedication will take place after the 10 a.m. Mass in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit; the Mass will be celebrated in Erin’s memory. Erin, who lost her life in a December 2013 car accident, was a graduate student in Assumption’s Master of Arts in Rehabilitation Counseling program and a 2012 graduate of the College. After earning her bachelor’s degree in anthropology and German, she worked in the Graduate Studies Office until September 2013, when she accepted a position at The Bridge of Central Massachusetts, a human services agency that serves individuals of all ages coping with mental health challenges, developmental disabilities, acquired brain injury, and/or complex family problems. She served as the treatment coordinator for the Stepping Stones Program at The Bridge. Erin’s years at Assumption are defined by great personal and academic achievements. In 2012, she was awarded the Milleret Scholarship for outstanding GPA and was recognized as a winner in the Undergraduate Research Symposium in the Social Sciences category. Erin was also an active contributor to Le Provocateur, Merely Players theatre group and Campus Ministry. Those who attend the dedication will be welcome to offer a few words about Erin and to bring a plant to add to her garden. Light refreshments will be available in the Tinsley Campus Ministry Center, following the dedication. Please note: A ceramic duck was taken from the garden this past week. This was a family memento and included an inscription to Erin from her father. The family and Assumption College would appreciate it returned to the garden before Sept. 14—no questions asked. Thank you.
