The Auroral Oval (visible area) is now over the northeastern US and this should progress westward through the next couple of hours. It will be most visible around the Iowa MN border northward, but is strong enough (Kp=7) that we should be able to see it in unlit areas in central and even southern Iowa. Aurora forecasts indicates visibility around 11pm with a peak in the 1-3 am time period. Photographers be ready.
