The Australian Air League is a youth organisation for boys and - TopicsExpress

The Australian Air League is a youth organisation for boys and girls from 8 to 18 years which encourages an interest in aviation as a career or as a hobby for the youth of Australia. It strives to promote good citizenship, leadership and teamwork - developing the skills and knowledge of its members. The organisation is entirely self-funding and is staffed by volunteers who give their time generously to achieve its goals. Broader information on the Australian Air League organisation is available at airleague.au. The Bundaberg Squadron established over 30 years and has become acknowledged for its high level of activity and achievement. Cadets attend Squadron parade nights once a week, where they take part in a variety of activities including ceremonial drill, team building, physical training, model aircraft, First Aid, camp craft, aviation theory, engineering and navigation – with opportunities for flight simulators, air field visits, aviation events, aircraft inspections and flight experiences. Amongst the other exciting opportunities ahead for the Squadron, the next Australian Air League Group Review, a competitive gathering of Squadrons from across Queensland, is scheduled for May 2014. For cadets of course it is all about the aircraft and aviation - air activities are core to the Air League and are conducted wherever possible in association with local flying organizations and gliding clubs who assist the Air League to provide cadets with a range of exciting activity opportunities (from remote control to an Aviation Diploma and potential pilot qualification). For many parents too, it allows their children to access opportunities otherwise unaffordable or unavailable to the general community. Prospective cadets are actively welcomed to attend three parade nights without obligation in order to experience the Air League in action (You will be asked to complete a member form but mainly for insurance purposes). Estimated cost; formal uniform (~$140) is a part of long term membership, supplemented by a sport uniform (shirt ~$35), Weekly Parade nights are held on FRIDAY evenings during public school terms between 6.30pm and 8:45pm (not held if meeting falls on a public holiday) at The Air League headquarters, Kendall’s Road, Bundaberg.
