The Australian Swim Team have had their first look at the main competition pool here in Doha for the Fina World Short Course Championships and everyone from head coach Jacco Verhaeren to the 20-swimmers and support staff were impressed with the transformation of the 50m venue into a compact 25 metre pool. The team will have its first official team meeting tonight ahead of tomorrows opening heats session at 9.30am Doha time (5.30pm AEDST) with the induction of three new members of the team Daniel Smith (Miami Swimming Club, QLD), Leah Neale Indooroopilly Swimming Club, QLD) and David Morgan (The Southport School, QLD). The induction and traditional cap presentation will be hosted by two-time Olympian and Beijing 4x200m freestyle relay bronze medallist Patrick Murphy. It will also feature the announcement of the Australian flagbearer for tomorrow nights spectacular opening ceremony. The first heats session will see Cam McEvoy and Daniel Smith (200m freestyle); Leiston Pickett and Sally Hunter (50m breaststroke); Mitch Larkin (100m backstroke); Brianna Throssell (200m butterfly); Jake Packard (100m breaststroke); Emily Seebohm and Maddi Wilson (100m backstroke); David Morgan and Tommaso DOrsogna (100m butterfly) and Ellen Fullerton (400 IM) as well as the 4x100m mens and 4x200m womens freestyle relays.- Ian Hanson
