The Autonomous University of Mexico City condemns the genocide and the crimes against humanity performed by the State of Israel against the Palestinian people The Autonomous University of Mexico City (UACM) expresses its most vigorous rejection of the military operations, extermination policies, violence, and life suppression by the State of Israel against the Palestinian people. In particular, we repudiate the present actions in Gaza which have caused the killings of over 1800 civilians—many of them children—, the ejection of the population and the destruction of Palestine’s infrastructure. This new token of occupation of the Palestinian territories violates all kinds of warrants to the most elementary human rights and, as pointed out by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the South African jurist Navi Pillay, constitutes “crimes against humanity”. The contempt for the right to live of Palestinian civilians and children the Israeli army has displayed demands a clear and active condemnation by the international community. Thus, we join our voice to the organizations that, within the framework of international law, clamor for a cease-fire and a stop to all kinds of violence against the Palestinian people. The UACM requests that our Federal, State and City authorities do all the political, diplomatic and public actions within their reach to urge the Israeli government to stop all military activities against Palestine. This way, we want to advocate for the right to live, the protection of human rights, the dignity and sovereignty of Palestine as well as encourage the search for means for the Israeli and Palestinian people to live side by side with justice, dignity and recognition of one another.
