The #BBCTrending web page, ( a report on news which has become popular on social media), reported that #Whitevangate had been tweeted 3,500 times. This isn’t a huge figure, but it’s a reflection that the BBC is ready to report on issues that may not seem socially critical, but have caught the eye of net-users. It seems odd then, that a hashtag, #CameronMustGo which has now been tweeted over a quarter of a million times, and Re-tweeted millions of times, is trending not only in the UK, but internationally, and is receiving no interest from the BBC. In fact, the BBC has been receiving its own fair share of criticism regarding its lack of reporting of this trend. The hashtag has been trending now for 60 hours, and twitter users in the UK need only look to the Left side of their twitter screen for verification, that it’s still going strong.
