The BREARD FOUNDATION (Baphumze Rubuluza Education And Rural Development) is a newly established foundation for improvement of education and development related opportunities in rural areas. We are currently co-ordinating efforts by professionals originating from the area of Ingquza Hill Local Municipality, to host the inaugural event under the name “The Annual Ingquza Hill 2012 MAYORAL WEEK”. This initiative is supported by the Local Municipality and the Department of Education. The inaugural event was held on the week of the 9th to the 14th of July 2012 at the Lusikisiki Teachers Training College. The event was scheduled such that it does not interfere with the school days and is divided into 3 sections in accordance with its goals as follows; 3 days of career exhibitions targeting high school learners and the recently matriculated persons (9th to the 11th July). (exhibition in the main hall, with parallel talks about each profession in the lecture theatres) For schools that entered our Geography Based “Terrain Model Building Competition”, prize giving was held on Wed the 11th July at 13:00. 1 day seminar on small business opportunities (12th July, Main Hall). 1 day seminar on local development potential (13th July, Main Hall) This and such initiative will continue to be the foundations focus in promoting development in the Ingquza Hill Local Municipality and surrounding areas.
