The BRMC family welcomed twelve new RN graduate nurses to the RN Residency on Monday, March 10 at a reception held in their honor. BRMC partners with Versant® to provide a structured 18-week program to assist new graduate RNs transition into clinical practice. Opening remarks were provided by BRMC President & CEO Ron Peterson and Chief Nursing Officer Cathy Hamel, MSN, RN, NEA-BC. Melanie Jenkins, RN, 5 South, was a graduate of the first RN Residency Cohort, and she shared an inspirational perspective with the new residents as they embark on their journey. Wynne Woodard, MSN, APRN, ACNS-BC, NE, RN Residency Coordinator, took the opportunity to thank everyone who has shown such dedication to the long term success of the program and introduced each resident. Each resident was presented with BRMC gift bags and an RN residency pin by their nurse director. Cohort II of the RN Residency officially begins Thursday, March 20 with the graduation of these 12 residents anticipated for July 17, 2014.
