The BUAV welcomes the news that over 1,550 monkeys imprisoned in Mazor farm in Israel have been saved from export to be used in experiments in the USA. The BUAV has long supported the campaign by animal groups in Israel – Let the Animals Live, Behind Closed Doors and ISAV (Israeli Society for the Abolition of Vivisection) to close down Mazor farm, and stop the continued shipment of monkeys from Israel to the USA and to Europe, including the UK. According to Amos Ron, who heads the business group that rescued the monkeys, the animals will now be protected and cared for during the rest of their lives - instead of being subjected to a life of cruelty and suffering.
