The Backyard Roundup Friday, January 2 At first the sky over - TopicsExpress

The Backyard Roundup Friday, January 2 At first the sky over my back yard had cloud, then some sun in that cloud, followed by more cloud becoming mainly sun but returning to partly cloud then cloud and back to sun. Sounds like your typical wait-five-minutes Maritime day, eh? That flip-floppy cloudy condition was fairly common across the Maritimes. Some areas even had snowshowers thrown in the mix. Here in Pugwash, there was a cosmetic dusting of snow this morning from overnight flurries but none fell during the day. There were early morning flurries at the Halifax Airport. Sydney and Yarmouth both had morning and afternoon snowshowers. The Annapolis valley saw more than several centimetres on the ground this morning. If you were up early in Charlottetown this morning, you would have seen some flurries there. There was some heavy snow activity this morning across the border from Edmundston at Fort Kent, Maine. Light snow and flurries were observed in Bathurst until early afternoon. In addition to the snow at observed station locations, snow squalls developed throughout our region where the brisk northwest winds blew onshore. Another mashup of sun and cloud is expected tomorrow. Sunday will be a different story as a low pressure system swings a stormy front across the Maritimes. Keep an eye on the weather warnings for details. For an updated look at tomorrows forecast, check with us in the morning. #BackyardWeather (Stephen)
