The Baird government will raise the threshold for the first-home buyers grant to $750,000 in this months state budget, allowing more home buyers to qualify for assistance. The $15,000 First Home Owners Grant is only available for the purchase of new homes. The raised threshold represents a $100,000 increase in the purchase price of a qualifying home and comes after Sydneys real estate market has roared back into life over the past year.
