The Bandera Family Christmas dinner has been providing free and complete Christmas meals in the region for 25 years, but for the first time, its facing financial trouble. This year, a lack of the usual corporate sponsors left a large deficit in the funds. Organizer Bill Bandera said he is only halfway to his goal of $8,000, but even if this amount isnt reached, dinner will definitely be served. The annual dinner started in 1989 and served 70 people. Now, an average of 3,500 to 4,000 people are served every Christmas Day. Preparations for this years dinner began on Dec. 13. Its funded completely through donations. But its not just money that makes the supper come together. Bandera is grateful for the hundreds of volunteers who help him each year. Bandera said if donations keep flooding in like they have been this past week, theres a chance his goal will be surpassed, and hed have a head start on money for next years meal. Please help if you can .. Thanks
